Why do layovers get such a bad rap?
I mean yeah… you are spending more time in the airport.
But that’s not so bad. Is it?
Here are 6 reasons why layovers are awesome:
People Watching
I have spent most of my adult life in an airport and there is nothing more entertaining than people watching. Airports are like if America’s Next Top Model and The Jersey Shore had a baby. Then that baby grew up and married all the Love and Hip Hop’s. Their baby would be just about any airport in the world.
The Peace
I know I know but hear me out. You can really find a sense of peace while in an airport. If you find an empty gate, even better. Just pop on a good pair of headphones, and you’re golden.
Food Options
Airport food can get expensive, but the options can be great. If you have a long layover, go to a restaurant. Order something other than a burger and fries. I would recommend going to a restaurant local to the city. Most airports have at least one local restaurant in them.
Great Place to Work
There is a reason why people like to work in coffee shops. It’s a great place to concentrate without being alone. I don’t know why background noise induces a deep work focus, but it just does. At least for me.
Conversations
Yes, it is 2021 and people still have real conversations with other people. Conversations without a screen between them. Shocker, I know. Sometimes it’s nice to just talk to someone. You might learn a thing or two.
Explore
Take this time to walk around and explore. Most major airports have hidden gems. Some have art exhibits and even mini museums. You never know what you might find. So just take a walk.
See layovers aren’t that bad. They don’t have to be long and boring.
